How Help Travels
It starts the way help actually travels in a neighbourhood: a phone number, a notebook, and word of mouth. One family that gets helped tells the next. People report what's broken, a water pump, a leaking line, a kitchen with no affordable fuel, a failing connection, and we sort those problems by who needs help most and what the team can actually build or repair safely.
Spreading the Word
Word of mouth does most of the work, but we also hand out a simple flyer, in English and Urdu, so people can pass on a phone number instead of relying on memory. Contact numbers are redacted below to keep them off the public web.
Our Process
- Recruit & Train. We bring in a few capable students and train them in the basics of safe, low-cost repair and installation work.
- Visit the Home. The team goes to the home and does the work with the family, not instead of them.
- Build or Repair. Low-cost biogas units that turn waste into cooking fuel, small solar setups for power, and water-saving repairs on pumps and leaks.
- Prioritise Need. Elderly and low-income households who cannot pay for a repair and would otherwise go without come first.
- Stay Within Scope. We stay strictly inside what the team can do safely, and never take on licensed wiring or structural jobs that need a tradesman.
- Log Everything. Every home served is logged, and we record a household's bills before and after wherever a fix changes them.
- Partner Locally. We bring in a welfare organisation or the union council to anchor and vouch for the work.
Our Records
We keep three logs for every fix: a home service log with the date, the problem, and how it was solved; a team roster tracking who worked on what; and a before-and-after record of each household's monthly bill. The numbers on the Impact page come straight from that log. A few examples below; family names are replaced with household numbers, and full records are kept privately.
